Space Mining

Artist: Revant R.
Grade: 7th
School: Coppell MS North
Title: Space Mining
Teacher: Kari Dollar

Artist Statement:
When I make art I let my imagination run free. Once I start drawing I just can't stop! Soon all of the doodles and sketches add up to make one beautiful unified piece. That's how all of my artworks come together.

Pheonix with Boxes

Artist: Julie C.
Grade: 7th
School: Coppell M S North
Title: Pheonix with Boxes
Teacher: Kari Dollar

Artist Statement:
My favorite thing about my project was coloring the pheonix. I worked hard on the prisma color, trying to make it smooth and even. By making the prisma color soft and light, the pheonix looked more mythocal and elegant.

Sunset

Artist: Erika Grace M.
Grade: 6
School: Coppell MS North
Title: Sunset
Teacher: Shannon Weaver

 Artist Statement:
When making this art work, I learned that this process takes a while to create, and you don’t need to make anything perfect like the branches of a tree, they have no perfection added into them or the branches are all different from each other and no one is perfect.

You also need to have patience because, the art itself takes a while to develop an idea and you’ll need to make each branch have its own personality and make it different. Every branch is like a different person and they may have the same likes and dislikes, but you are different by the style they dress or act.

If I could create this artwork again, i would change the background because, it looks like just solid colors in their own little place, and then I would make sure the colors blend into each color, to add more water to blend the colors together.

Magnetic Poetry Artwork

Artist: Sloane S.
Grade: 8
School: Coppell MS North
Title: Magnetic Poetry Art
Teacher: Shannon Weaver

Artist Statement:
This is my favorite project I have ever done in my art career. I could do whatever my heart desired. From designing the backgrounds through art, then using my poetic side to create poetry that tell little stories about my life.

Out of all three, my favorite is, "Your embrace lingered in my breath and haunted my ghost." This portrays how a girl was so in love that her past love still haunts her emotions.

Paper Strips

Grade: 8
School: Coppell MS North
Title: Charcoal Pencil Paper Strips
Teacher: Shannon Weaver

Artist Statement:
When making this artwork, I learned about the different value ranges and how to make it go together in a piece of art.  This helped me gain knowledge of the full value range and usage of charcoal pencils.
